NEW CANOPY LUMINAIRE EARNS OSRAM TECHNOLOGY SIGNET

The OSRAM LED Technology signet demonstrates that a product contains top-quality OSRAM LED technology and emphasizes the foremost quality and standard of products that carry the symbol. Pro Visual Technologies (Pty) Ltd, Pro Visual, is the first South African company to launch a locally designed, proudly South African product bearing this prestigious signet.

The TSA-01 is a 150w, 17k Lumen, LED Petroleum Canopy Luminaire is designed and manufactured in South Africa specifically to endure the harsh, hot African climate, something the European manufacturers don’t always consider. Lourens Steyn, Technical Director of Pro Visual, designed the product to meet all international petroleum standards in Safety and Durability. Osram Opto LED’s are his first choice to deliver superior quality and efficiency to his clients whilst meeting rigorous specifications.

At Total South Africa energy savings, durability and even light distribution are primary considerations when replacing canopy luminaires. Intambo Infrastructure Services identified LED technology as the solution and Managing Director, Gerrit Wium, approached Pro Visual to develop a local product to compete in this market.

The TSA-01 meets all requirements with energy savings of up to 75% whilst offering significant improvements in light performance and quality. The lifespan of the product is an astonishing 10 years, with the light output still well above 80% when operated nightly. This is achieved with efficient thermal management, and the elimination of moving parts, making this luminaire extremely durable. Primary LED optics are used to ensure that light is distributed to its intended location with minimal losses, further improving the efficacy of the luminaire.

After a pilot installation at Total Glen Marais, in Kempton Park Johannesburg, the TSA-01 has been adopted to replace ageing canopy luminaires. Jan Swiegers, Standards Manager at Total South Africa, says that as a KPI, and in order to lower costs and bring new technology to South Africa, Total welcomes companies who are willing to go the extra mile to include R&D in their proposals for new products. The product has since become widely accepted by petroleum retailers.

Service station owners enjoy additional savings with virtually no maintenance being required. Lamp and labour replacement costs are eliminated and pump downtime is radically reduced. A return on investment in as little as 2 years, along with a 5-year return to factory guarantee and a 10-year lifespan, make this product a very appealing proposition.
Quality is key. OSRAM Opto Semiconductor has done a full assessment of the product and has validated all claims related to performance, durability and quality. The product is ready to be supplied to petroleum industry clients across Africa and the Middle East.

If you have commercial, industrial or retail LED lighting requirements, Pro Visual should be your Lighting Technical Partner of choice. Sean Nienaber, Managing Director of the company, believes that the days of choosing the nearest available fit off the shelf are over: “Our ethos is centred on specific product design, with customer participation, in order to meet precise demands”.
